-Carol Chiang is an occupational therapist and smarthome innovation expert who helps people live at home independently for as long as possible, by providing expert guidance to clients planning for their futures, while decreasing caregiver stress by providing the answers they need. Focused on designing spaces with hidden-in-place accessibility that looks beautiful and increases home value.

Meet Carol Chiang, Founder and CEO of Evolving Homes

Carol founded Evolving Homes after working in Home Health for 12 years, where she watched Medicare reimbursements shrink year after year. This resulted in patients not getting the support they needed to set up their homes in the safest way possible. She saw the struggle that caregivers were going through trying to increase water intake and with getting their loved ones to exercise after their therapists had discharged them. She met overwhelmed and exhausted caregivers trying to figure out what their options were for care if they could no longer handle the stress. She felt sad that the medical system was designed to be reactive rather than proactive.

Carol has long reveled in figuring out how to solve her own problems. She is currently in the process of creating “Do-It-Yourself” courses so that individuals can explore solutions on their own. As a competitive swimmer in university while pursuing her Occupational Therapy degree, she missed the Olympics by 1/10th of a second in 1996 and was inducted to the McGill Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.

Carol loves adventure, travel and learning about new cultures and ideas. Having climbed Mount Kilamanjaro in 2003, living in South Korea for 5 years and scuba diving all over the world, she loves challenges and puzzles, especially when it comes to cooking and eating! Carol tries to spend most of her free time enjoying the company of her two children and husband!

She has 25 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist (OT), which greatly informs her home health consulting, and is based out of Jacksonville, FL, offering services to clients across the U.S. and Canada

Evolving Homes is a Certified Aging-in-Place Expert and specialize in designing beautiful, accessible spaces that are both functional and stylish. Carol is also a Licensed Realtor because sometimes the cost of renovating a well-loved home is higher than simply moving into a more accessible space. She is also a Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery Therapist and is passionate about exercise as medicine.
